Beijing residents increase cigarette spending

Beijing residents spent 12.1 percent more on cigarettes last year than they did during 2004, according to the Municipal Bureau of Statistics.
The report did not speculate on whether the spike resulted from increased consumption, rising prices or both, but rising prices were no doubt a factor.
